Zamalek trio, Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, Nabil Emad Donga and Mostafa Shalaby, appeared for the first time after the end of their crisis in the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi court had ruled to imprison the trio for a month on charges of assaulting a security officer at Al Nahyan Stadium.
After Egyptian diplomatic efforts, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed issued a pardon for the trio in appreciation of the brotherly relationship and ties between the two countries.
The Zamalek trio were released on Wednesday morning, and a photo was taken of them at Abu Dhabi Airport before boarding the plane and returning to the capital, Cairo.
Zamalek President Hussein Labib was keen to continue in the UAE until the crisis was resolved, along with Treasurer Hossam El-Mandouh, despite the team’s trip there ending last Thursday.
Everyone is now waiting for the Football Association’s reaction to the events, in light of what was reported about the intention to impose a heavy penalty on the trio as well.
