Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has asked fans not to pay too much attention to what is being said about his team having a complex against Bayern Munich, indicating that this matter is “in the past”.
Since Flick led Bayern to beat Barcelona 8-2 in the 2020 Champions League, Barca have never been able to win against the Bavarian giants, not even draw in six matches.
The Bayern-Barcelona clash will be renewed, this time at the Allianz Arena in the league stage of the Champions League on Wednesday.
Flick was asked in the press conference before the match about Bayern’s complex, to answer by saying, “What happened in the past against Bayern is not important now, we just want to be ready for tomorrow’s match.”
He continued, “The past remains in the past, and we have to create the present now. We cannot influence what happened in the past, but we can influence tomorrow’s match.”
“Bayern play great football with Kompany, they have great courage and apply high pressure, it will be a difficult match but we are ready and we will give our best,” he added.
Speaking about his previous experience with Bayern, he concluded: “It is a great club and I have a history and good relationships with the players and coaches there, it is an important chapter in my life but now I am with Barcelona and that is what I am focusing on.”
