Flick Begins Barcelona Era with Bold Statement: “I’m Not Afraid of Real Madrid”

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has emphasized that he is not overly concerned about competing with Real Madrid, despite the apparent advantages in favor of the reigning champions.

Flick took over the reins of the Catalan club from Xavi Hernandez and has just begun pre-season preparations. For the first time, he has spoken to the media about his expectations for his tenure.

The German coach said in his interview, “I am 100% convinced of the team we have now. We have a great team and I am not really afraid of competing with Real Madrid.”

He added, “Not all the teams we face are like Real Madrid. We will only play the Clasico twice this season.”

He continued, “We will give our all in every game and we have a long way to go. I won’t say we will win the league, but we will prepare for every game perfectly and see what happens. That’s what I promise you.”

He concluded, “I like to live in the present, not the past or even the future. All I want the fans to see is that we give 100% of our abilities in every game. I want us to play our style and for the fans to be proud of our style.”

It is worth noting that Barcelona will open the Spanish league with a tough away match against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, while Flick’s first Clasico will be on October 27 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
