Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed his happiness with his team’s return to winning ways by beating Mallorca, sarcastically attributing the reason to the end of the “damned” November.
Barcelona lost twice in La Liga in November against Las Palmas and Real Sociedad, and drew with Celta Vigo, reducing the gap between them and runners-up Real Madrid to one point with one game less for the Merengue.
Barcelona won their first match in December against Mallorca 5-1 away from home, and it seems that Flick has finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The German coach said, laughing, in a post-match interview, “We are definitely happy, because the damned November is over and we are starting December.”
He added, “We knew it would be an even match, and honestly I was hoping to keep a clean sheet, but the most important thing now is that we won.”
“I am happy to have Lamine Yamal back, he is an important player for us and can always make the difference in difficult times. I was planning to rest Raphinha and bring on Lewandowski, but before the game I changed my mind. We have a busy calendar and we need to rotate,” he concluded.
Barcelona will face Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín on Saturday, before travelling to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
