Barcelona’s management wants to renew coach Hansi Flick’s contract, and the German doesn’t object to the idea, but he sets two initial conditions for continuing to lead the Blaugrana.
Flick’s contract runs until the summer of 2026, and he said in a press conference that he’s in no rush to renew it. Sport revealed the latest developments in the negotiations between him and Barça.
Flick initially wants Barcelona’s management to guarantee the continued presence of several players, specifically Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Pau Coparsi, Alejandro Balde, and Ronald Araujo.
Flick also asked Laporta’s management to renew the contracts of Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia, whom he considers essential to his project.
The 60-year-old’s second condition is logistical. He hopes to build a private residence for the players to live together and focus on, instead of hotels.
The coach wants to strengthen unity and the family atmosphere among the players by having them live together, a practice followed at many clubs, most notably Real Madrid.
It should be noted that Flick is completely satisfied with Barcelona’s sporting management, and his relationship with sporting director Deco is healthy, which increases his chances of renewing his contract if both conditions are met.
