Andre Onana was able to save a penalty kick in his team Manchester United’s match against Southampton in the fourth round of the Premier League.
Cameron Archer took the penalty kick, but he shot a weak ball to the right of Onana, who had no difficulty in stopping it and maintaining the tie between the two teams.
This is the first penalty kick that the Cameroonian goalkeeper has saved in his career in the Premier League, knowing that his net had previously received 7 goals from penalty kicks in the last two seasons in the tournament.
In general, this is the second time Onana has saved a penalty kick with United, after he saved Jordan Larsson’s kick last season in the Copenhagen match in the Champions League.
Onana is not a great penalty taker, and there is no better evidence of that than the fact that throughout his long career he has only saved six penalties, while conceding 37.
The Archer penalty save was crucial for United, as it kept the score level and Matthijs de Ligt scored the Red Devils’ first goal two minutes later.
