Former Liverpool star Joel Matip has announced his immediate retirement from football.
Matip has yet to find a new club since leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract last summer.
Although the Cameroonian international has been linked with several clubs inside and outside Europe, he has yet to find the passion to try a new experience on the pitch.
Matip, 33, has been satisfied with what he has offered in football, and published a statement announcing that it is time to retire from football.
Matip began his career with Bochum Youth, from where he moved to Schalke in 2000, and continued to progress until he reached the first team in 2009, then moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2016 on a free transfer.
Matip has achieved many major titles, such as the Champions League and the English Premier League with Liverpool, and the German Cup with Schalke.
