Al-Riyadh newspaper revealed that former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has agreed to coach Al-Shabab, but there is currently one obstacle preventing the contract from being completed.
Coach Vitor Pereira left coaching Al-Shabab after receiving an offer from Wolverhampton, and the “Lions” management settled on the current Real Betis coach to be his successor.
According to the report, Pellegrini agreed to Al-Shabab’s offer, but asked to take over coaching the Saudi club starting next season and not immediately.
The 71-year-old wants to complete this season with Real Betis and not leave them in the middle of the season and cause a crisis for the Andalusian club after the close relationship between the two parties over the past years.
In turn, the Al-Shabab management was clear that it was either now or never, and gave Pellegrini a final deadline to accept taking over immediately and pay the penalty clause in his contract amounting to 2 million euros, or look for another coach to succeed Vitoria.
It is noteworthy that Pellegrini led Real Madrid for one year, and he also had many successful experiences with Villarreal, Malaga, and Manchester City.
