France Football magazine opened fire on Real Madrid through an article published on Tuesday morning, in which it refuted the reasons for Rodri winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or at the expense of Vinicius Junior.
Real Madrid had decided to boycott the ceremony after learning that Vinicius did not win the Ballon d’Or, a move that was widely condemned by the magazine that organized the event in the French capital, Paris.
The editorial board of the magazine wrote an article in which it said, “Rodri’s coronation with the Ballon d’Or is fair, a new signal against the architects of the system that encourages individualism.”
It continued, “Real Madrid did not come to the ceremony because of a rumor, and took Ancelotti and Mbappé with them as hostages (to boycott the ceremony) to add to its moral downfall after the resounding sports defeat in the Clasico just 3 days ago, 4-0.”
The fiery article continued its attack on Real, “Real Madrid’s boycott of the Ballon d’Or ceremony is the natural logic of a club that undoubtedly does not care about or pay attention to the global interest in football.”
“Real Madrid wants to choose their opponents, they want to create their own Super League instead of the Champions League where they can impose their dominance more,” It added.
“Rodri’s coronation is a sign that the 100 people who choose from France Football have precision and intelligence, far from the numbers and statistics that have only crowned strikers as kings of football.”
