French media reports that Rennes player Désiré Doué has turned down a move to Bayern Munich and has chosen to stay in France and join Paris Saint-Germain.
Doué was a top priority for the Bavarian giants to bolster their left-wing position, while PSG saw him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappé who has moved to Real Madrid.
Despite Bayern offering Doué a lucrative deal, the player ultimately informed the German officials that he did not want to move to the Allianz Arena and that his decision was to move to the French capital.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi and coach Luis Enrique’s efforts to convince Doué of PSG’s project were successful, leaving only an agreement between the French club and Rennes, which is not expected to be difficult.
Doué recently won a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics with the French Olympic team and was one of the standout players in Thierry Henry’s squad, attracting significant attention.
The 19-year-old is the second player to reject Bayern this summer after Xavi Simons, who decided to stay with Leipzig for another year on loan.
For Paris Saint-Germain, Doué will be the fourth signing after the Parisian giants signed goalkeeper Matvei Safonov from Krasnodar, João Neves from Benfica, and defender Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt.
