Mundo Deportivo newspaper reported that the Barcelona administration has turned its attention to Al-Ittihad coach Marcelo Gallardo to sign him as a successor to Xavi Hernandez next season.
The Catalan media has already put forward 3 names that the Barcelona administration is considering to succeed Xavi, led by former Germany national team coach Hansi Flick, Porto coach Sergio Conceicao, and Barcelona B coach Rafael Marquez.
According to the newspaper close to Barcelona, the latest name to join the list is Gallardo, who has received interest from Barcelona since his successes with River Plate in the past decade.
What distinguishes the contract with Gallardo is that it will not be financially expensive, as the Argentine coach is about to be dismissed from coaching Al-Ittihad, and thus it is possible to sign with him without the need to pay money.
As for Gallardo himself, he does not mind coaching Barcelona, knowing that he is receiving interest from many other European clubs, led by Milan, and his name has recently been linked to Bayern Munich.
Gallardo led River Plate to achieve many local and continental achievements, but his experience with Al-Ittihad did not go as hoped after he quarreled with Karim Benzema and failed to achieve any championship or any notable achievement from November until now.
