Antoine Griezmann has announced his retirement from playing with the French national team after a great career during which he achieved many accomplishments.
Griezmann’s decision to end his international career came despite the distinguished levels he presented with Atletico Madrid and being a key element in the French national team as well.
Griezmann did not reveal the reason that led him to take this sudden decision, and simply wrote, “With a heart full of memories, I close this chapter of my life. Thank you for this wonderful adventure, and see you soon.”
The 32-year-old is the third-highest scorer for the French national team in history, having scored 44 goals in 137 matches for Les Bleus.
The former Barcelona star was one of the key elements in France’s victory in the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 European Nations League, and until the last international break, he was a key player in Didier Deschamps’ squad.
