Pep Guardiola confirmed that he does not intend to work as a coach for another team after leaving Manchester City, hinting at the possibility of coaching a national team.
The Spanish coach had renewed his contract with the English club until the summer of 2026 with the possibility of extending for another season by agreement between the two parties.
Guardiola was asked about what he will do after the end of his journey at the Etihad Stadium, to which he replied, “I will not coach any other team after Manchester City.”
He also added, “I am not talking here about the long term, but immediately after City I will not go to another country to do the same thing I was doing here, I will not have the energy.”
He continued, “I want to leave coaching clubs and go play golf, but I cannot now, but one day that time will come.”
He concluded, “Coaching national teams is different, yes, maybe I will coach a national team.”
It is noteworthy that the England national team had dreamed of Guardiola taking over as coach after Gareth Southgate, but in the end the “Three Lions” contracted with Thomas Tuchel until the 2026 World Cup.
