Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hinted that the door is open for any player to leave the club this summer, noting that he hopes to keep both Kevin De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez.
Alvarez had made controversial comments stating that he wants to play more, amid significant interest from Atletico Madrid in particular to secure his services.
At the same time, Kevin De Bruyne’s name continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabian clubs, despite Guardiola’s previous assurances that the Belgian will remain for another year.
When asked again about De Bruyne’s future, the Spaniard replied, “The club told me he’s staying, but I haven’t spoken to him.”
He added, “I don’t know what will happen, but I hope he stays with us. It’s up to him now, but as I said, what I was told is that he’s staying with us.”
Regarding Alvarez, he said, “I read that he said he would think about leaving. Well, let him think as he wants and then he will tell us what he wants.”
He concluded, “Alvarez wants to play in important moments, but others want that too.”
