Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that a difficult task awaits his team when it faces Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, calling the royal club “the kings of the competition.”
For the third year in a row, City will meet Real Madrid, but this time it will be in the quarter-finals after the last two matches were in the semi-finals.
The philosopher spoke to the media after the draw and said, “We have no other choice. It has become like a tradition. For the third year in a row, we will face the kings of the Champions League.”
He also added, “I hope we get to the match in good shape. It’s a draw that you can never control.”
He concluded, “If someone says that the task is easy, he is underestimating the opponent, and this is not true. Yes, the return match is in our stadium, but let us see what happens.”
It is noteworthy that City surpassed Real Madrid last year by crushing it in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium 4-0 after tying in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu 1-1.
