Guardiola: Rodri could return to City before the end of the season!

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri’s recovery is going so well that he could be back playing before the end of the season.

The Ballon d’Or winner suffered a cruciate ligament tear in August, and such an injury usually takes at least nine months to recover from.

“Rodri looks good, but we certainly won’t make any stupid decisions with him,” Guardiola said.

“He’s not close to returning, but he’s started to touch the ball, train with it and attend different sessions with us. He feels more confident and happy now.”

“I didn’t expect that, but he could be back before the Club World Cup, maybe he’ll play some games with us in the Premier League this season.”

The 2025 Club World Cup kicks off in the United States on June 14, and given Guardiola’s expectations, Rodri could return in May if all goes well.
