Manchester City is about to sign the star of Leipzig and the Spanish national team, Dani Olmo, in the next few hours by activating the release clause in his contract with the German club.
Olmo has long been linked to joining Barcelona, and Catalan newspapers said in recent days that Barcelona has placed him as a backup plan in the event that the contract with Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams fails.
According to what was reported by the famous journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, City will pay the value of the release clause in the Olmo and Leipzig contracts, amounting to 60 million euros, within a few hours, and the Spaniard’s transfer to the Etihad Stadium will be completed.
City’s interest in including Olmo was not spur of the moment. Rather, Pep Guardiola followed him throughout last season and expressed his desire to sign him and considered him the ideal choice to support the left wing position of the Premier League champions in the next season.
Not only did Manchester City beat Barcelona to the 26-year-old, but Chelsea also had a great interest in signing the Spanish international.
The deal is supposed to be officially completed before July 20, the last date for activating the penalty clause.
