Brighton fans took advantage of their team’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Falmer Stadium to mock Pep Guardiola.
The fans in the stands began chanting “Guardiola.. will be sacked in the morning” in reference to the series of defeats and decline that City is experiencing this season.
Guardiola lost 4 consecutive matches for the first time in his career.
It started with City’s farewell to the Carabao Cup after losing to Tottenham 2-1, then the team suffered its first defeat in the English Premier League, which was at the hands of Bournemouth 2-1 as well.
After that, Sporting Lisbon crushed City 4-1 in the Champions League, and now the English club is defeated again in the Premier League, this time by Brighton 2-1.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time that Manchester City has lost 3 matches in a row since 2006.
Guardiola commented on this, “Well, there is always something that happens for the first time in life!”.
He concluded, “I have no doubt that we will come back stronger.”
With the defeat against Brighton, Manchester City’s balance in the Premier League froze at 23 points in second place, and the difference with Liverpool increased to 5 points after the Reds’ victory over Aston Villa.
