Haaland Hat-trick Sets New Premier League Records

Erling Haaland continued his incredible goal-scoring form by bagging a hat-trick against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

City responded to Sami Morsy’s early goal for Ipswich with four of their own, including three from Haaland and one from Kevin De Bruyne.

Haaland became the first player in Premier League history to score against 23 different teams, nearly every club he has faced in the world’s top league.

This hat-trick was Haaland’s seventh for Manchester City in just 68 Premier League games. He is now the third-highest foreign goalscorer in Premier League history, behind Thierry Henry with 8 hat-tricks in 258 games and Sergio Aguero with 12 in 275.

Remarkably, in just 68 games, Haaland has equaled Wayne Rooney’s total of 7 Premier League hat-tricks achieved over his long career from 2004 to 2018.

Considering Haaland has played significantly fewer games compared to Henry and Aguero, breaking their records seems like a matter of time.

In total, Haaland has scored 67 Premier League goals. Since joining City in 2021, the closest player to him in terms of total goals is Mohamed Salah with 38.

With his hat-trick, Haaland now leads the Premier League scoring charts with four goals this season, having also scored against Chelsea in the opening round.
