The media circulated news that Polish referee Szymon Marciniak is the most likely to officiate the Euro 2024 final at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
Marciniak was the talk of millions around the world last May because of the mistake his assistant made at the end of the Real Madrid and Bayern Munich match in the Champions League semi-finals.
Due to the incident of the Real Madrid and Bayern match, Marciniak is not popular with the German fans, and he was even excluded from managing the opening of the Euro between Germany and Scotland.
In Euro 2024, Marciniak managed the Belgium-Romania match in the group stage, and then he was a witness to the tournament’s biggest surprise, with Switzerland’s elimination of Italy from the round of 16.
According to reports, Marciniak is at the top of the nominations to manage the final match of the Euro, which will determine the first party, Spain, after defeating France 2-1 in the semi-finals.
Marciniak is competing with two referees in particular, the first is the Englishman Michael Oliver, but the matter depends on whether the English reach the final or not, while the second referee is the Frenchman François Letexier.
It is noteworthy that Marciniak is considered the best referee in the world, and he has officiated many important confrontations in the last 4 years, the most prominent of which is the 2022 World Cup final between France and Argentina.
