The Brazilian Football Confederation conducted a DNA test on Vinicius Junior to reveal his roots and the origins of his family.
The Brazilian Confederation launched a special campaign entitled “Golden Roots” revealing Vinicius Junior’s African origins, and highlighting the pride and history of the Afro-Brazilian people, especially in football.
The tests proved that the Real Madrid star has African origins dating back to Cameroon, specifically the Tikar tribe.
Vinicius was handed the results of the test before the Uruguay match on Wednesday morning in the World Cup qualifiers, as part of the campaign held in honor of the player in honor of his fight against racism and for being one of the current symbols of Brazil and will be applied to other players in the future.
Vinicius commented on this by saying, “It is important for us to know where we come from. These are the things that Brazilians do not really know, where our ancestors and our progress come from. But I am happy, we are from Cameroon too.”
Thus, Vinicius shares roots with Mbappé, as the latter is half Cameroonian on the side of his father, Wilfried Mbappé Lottin, and half Algerian on the side of his father, Fayza Lamari, but he lived his entire life in France and his nationality is French.
