Radio Marca has confirmed that João Félix will not stay at Barcelona and is on his way back to the Premier League.
Félix’s loan to Barcelona ended at the end of last season, and Atlético Madrid is demanding at least €30 million for his sale.
Barcelona is trying to re-sign the player on loan, but Atlético is likely to refuse and will look to sell him outright.
Aston Villa are the closest to signing the 24-year-old Félix.
Despite Félix’s publicly stated desire to stay at Barcelona, he is not against a move to Aston Villa, especially with his admiration for the club’s sporting project and their participation in the Champions League next season.
Barcelona is currently focusing on other more important signings such as Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, which reduces the chances of the Portuguese player staying at the Camp Nou.
Félix has previously been on loan at Chelsea, but his experience was not successful.
Félix is certain to leave Atlético Madrid due to his poor relationship with coach Diego Simeone.
