Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane confirmed that he will not work in the English Premier League, no matter what offers are made, due to his lack of proficiency in the English language.
Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zizou has been linked to more than one English club, and the most prominent aspirant to obtain his services was Manchester United in particular.
Zidane was asked in an interview with L’Equipe newspaper about the possibility of working in England, and he answered, “I cannot work there, I do not have the necessary competence to lead a team and work effectively in an English-speaking environment.”
He also added, “Communication with players and others is the key to success, which is why I prefer to work in an environment where I can fully engage without language barriers.”
He concluded, “Coaches who succeeded despite not being proficient in the language? Well, I work differently! There are many elements that must be available to work with a club, and language is one of those decisive elements.”
With these words, it remains clear that Zidane’s next experience in the world of coaching will either be in France or Spain, as he is fluent in both languages, and even the option of Italy has become ruled out despite his knowledge of the language to some extent due to his previous experience as a player with Juventus.
