Raphinha needed less than a minute to break the jinx of Bayern Munich’s jinx against Barcelona in the Champions League.
The Olympic Stadium of Luis Companys hosted the Barcelona-Bayern match in the third round of the league stage with the “big ears”.
Since Luis Suarez’s second goal during Barcelona’s 8-2 loss to Bayern in Portugal in the Champions League quarter-finals, Barça has failed to score against the German club.
The two teams have met 4 times since then, all in the group stage, and the Bavarians won all of them.
Bayern scored 11 goals in 4 confrontations, while Barcelona did not manage to score a single goal.
Now comes Raphinha in less than a minute and ends this jinx that has extended over 4 years, and enhances the numbers of his exceptional season with Barcelona.
This is the second fastest goal in Barcelona’s history in the Champions League after just 54 seconds, behind Van Bommel’s goal against Panathinaikos in 2005.
Rafinha then scored two goals to complete a historic hat-trick against Bayern.
