The numbers show that the void left by Lionel Messi in Barcelona has finally been filled by the duo Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan club beat Sevilla 5-1 on Sunday in the tenth round of La Liga, to take the lead by 3 points before facing Real Madrid next week.
Lewandowski scored two goals against the Andalusian club, bringing his total number of goals in La Liga to 12 goals in the first 10 rounds.
This is the first time a player in La Liga has scored this many goals after this number of rounds since Lionel Messi did it in the 2019-20 season.
In the same context, Lamine Yamal made an assist against Sevilla, bringing his total assists to 6.
With this, the 17-year-old became the first player to make 6 assists in the first 10 La Liga matches since Messi, who made 7 in the first 10 in the 2014-15 season.
It remains to be noted that Barcelona have scored 31 goals in the first 10 rounds of La Liga this season, which is the team’s best offensive record since the 2012-13 season (32 goals), knowing that before the Messi era, they had only scored this many goals in the 1996-97 season.
