The German newspaper “Sport Bild” reported that Schalke has renewed its interest in contracting with Raul Gonzalez to coach the blue team next season.
Raul previously played for two years at Schalke and has strong ties to the club, and with Xabi Alonso’s remarkable success at Bayer Leverkusen, the management of the historic club wants to repeat the experience in another way with Raul.
This is not the first time that Raul has attracted Schalke’s attention, the first was last May and he refused at that time because he wanted to continue with Real Madrid Castilla, and the other was last September and he refused because he did not want to work from the middle of the season.
According to the German newspaper, Raul will receive a new offer from Schalke at the end of this season in the hope that he will start the club’s new project to return to the Bundesliga again.
In principle, Raul seems open to the idea in one way or another, as he has decided to leave Real Madrid at the end of his contract next June and begin his coaching career with the first team.
Saudi newspapers have indicated that Raul is on the radar of some Roshn League clubs, in addition to previous interest from Al-Sadd, the club for which the Spanish legend played, to contract him as a coach as well.
The fate of Schalke and Raul’s negotiations remains dependent on the continuation of sports director Ben Manga, as if he leaves, things may change with the arrival of another sports director with a different idea.
