Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas expressed his optimism that Lionel Messi will renew his contract with the American club for at least another year.
The Argentine flea’s contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of next season, and his decision on whether to continue until the 2026 World Cup or retire is still unknown.
The Inter Miami owner was asked about Messi’s renewal issue, and he replied, “I am confident that he will open our new stadium in 2026.”
He also added, “I will meet Messi at some point during the interseason, and I am certain that as long as he is physically good, he will continue with us.”
Mas’s statements are in line with Messi himself, who said that he will continue in football as long as he feels good, and that injuries alone are what could end his enjoyment of the beautiful game as well as his career.
It is worth noting that the 36-year-old led Inter Miami to win the League Cup and the Supporters’ Shield, but he did not succeed in helping his team win the American League.
Messi is currently on vacation in preparation for the start of the new season in America, which begins in March and usually ends between October and December.
