Is Walid Regragui the Reason for Morocco’s Loss to Spain in the Olympics?

Morocco’s national team coach, Walid Regragui, has come under fire in recent hours, with many considering him the reason for the Olympic team’s loss to Spain in the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Regragui holds the position of general supervisor of the Olympic team and has been seen multiple times at the team’s training sessions in France.

Regragui appeared between the two halves of the match at the Velodrome stadium in the tunnel leading to the locker room when the score was 1-0 in favor of Morocco thanks to Sofiane Rahimi’s penalty goal.

It turned out that Regragui had given instructions to the Olympic team players, which has opened the door to severe criticism of the former Wydad coach.

Fans on social media considered what Regragui did to be inappropriate and disrespectful to the coach, Tarik Sektioui.

Many also said that Regragui caused the players to lose focus, which was reflected in the second half and led to them losing their lead and the opportunity to reach the final.

It is worth noting that Morocco will face Egypt next Thursday to determine who will win the bronze medal.
