Al-Riyadiah newspaper revealed that Al-Ittihad club management reached an agreement with an international coach to take over the responsibility of training the Tigers next season.
The Al-Ittihad administration had announced the departure of Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo from coaching the team less than a season after his arrival in Jeddah, due to poor results and his disagreements with the players.
Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Topmüller was Al-Ittihad’s first choice, but the German announced his rejection of the offer and continued with his active club in the Bundesliga.
According to Al-Riyadiah, Al-Ittihad’s management has reached an agreement with the former Milan coach, Stefano Pioli, to succeed Gallardo in leading the team next season.
The Italian coach is supposed to sign a two-year contract to continue as Al-Ittihad’s coach until the summer of 2026, with the possibility of renewing the contract for another year depending on the results.
It is noteworthy that Pioli has a long journey in training, but he only achieved the Italian League title with Millan, and working in Al-Ittihad will be his first experience outside Italy.
