Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has announced that the Gunners’ latest summer signing, Mikel Merino, will be out for a while due to injury.
According to the Spanish coach, Merino has suffered a shoulder injury, most likely a fracture.
Arteta said in the press conference before the Brighton match, “Merino fell to the ground and Gabriel fell on him, he may have suffered a fracture in his shoulder.”
He also added, “It is clear that he will be out for weeks.”
Merino officially joined Arsenal just 3 days ago from Real Sociedad in a deal that cost the London club £31.6 million.
The Euro 2024 champion is expected to undergo further tests to discover how long he will be out of action, although it will not be less than a month if it is proven that he has a fracture.
