Juventus’ management has renewed confidence in coach Thiago Motta despite Sunday’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina in Serie A.
This was Juve’s second consecutive heavy domestic defeat, following the 4-0 loss to Atalanta last week.
Italian media previously reported that the defeat to Fiorentina might be enough to sack Motta, but Juve’s management had a different opinion.
Juventus sporting director Giuntoli said, “We will continue on our path with Thiago Motta. Our position remains the same. We can only get out of the current situation together.”
He added, “It’s a difficult moment, but we must unite and face things head on. Our position is firm and will not change. We support Motta.”
Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Motta’s continued tenure as Juventus coach beyond this season is highly questionable, unless he is dismissed early if the poor results continue.
