Juventus settles on sacking Motta.. and this is the closest to succeeding him

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the sacking of Thiago Motta from coaching Juventus has become closer than ever.

The Bianconeri are suffering from a significant decline in results, the latest of which was the heavy defeat by Atalanta 4-0 in the Italian League.

According to the report, any result other than a win against Fiorentina next week will mean the immediate dismissal of Thiago Motta from his position and the appointment of an interim coach until the end of the season.

However, if Motta succeeds in improving the results, even relatively, he will remain until the end of the season, but his continuation beyond that is unlikely.

Current Atalanta coach Gian Pier Gasperini tops the list of those closest to succeeding Motta at Juventus next season, especially since the experienced coach’s crises with the northern Italian club have increased recently.

Juventus want Gasperini, or whoever the new coach is, to come before the Club World Cup, and La Gazzetta reports that Motta’s continued presence in the upcoming World Cup would mean he would stay on next season.

Among the names on Juventus’ list to succeed Motta are current Al-Nassr coach Stefano Pioli, as well as Antonio Conte if he leaves Napoli, in addition to Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi.

It is worth noting that Juventus is ranked fourth in the Italian league, and was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 play-off at the hands of Eindhoven.
