The newspaper “La Repubblica” reported that Juventus star Federico Chiesa is willing to take a pay cut to join Barcelona.
Coach Thiago Motta had announced that Chiesa was out of his plans and that the Italian international had to find a new team before the end of the transfer window.
Chiesa’s agent offered the player to Barcelona, who are looking to strengthen their left wing after failing to sign Nico Williams.
According to the latest report, Chiesa is prioritizing a move to Barcelona, to the point where he is willing to reduce his salary from €6 million to just €4.5 million.
The Italian player is now putting his sporting interests ahead of his economic interests, and for this reason, he is rejecting offers from the Premier League with higher financial rewards, just for the sake of Barcelona.
The current crisis lies in the fact that Juventus are insisting on getting €15 million for Chiesa, while Barcelona do not want to pay more than €10 million.
There is another crisis in that even with a salary reduction, it will still be difficult for Chiesa to be registered on Barcelona’s roster due to Financial Fair Play rules.
