Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has commented for the first time on Mohamed Salah’s injury in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid.
The Egyptian international was unable to complete the match due to a violent tackle from Sergio Ramos that resulted in a broken shoulder, and Liverpool lost the final 3-1.
In an interview with Toni Kroos’ podcast, the German coach addressed what happened and attacked Ramos, saying, “Ramos is not my favorite player, I know he didn’t know he was going to hurt Salah’s shoulder, but the incident was violent and we all know that he accepted what happened with pleasure.”
He also added, “I never understood this mentality, and I didn’t sign players like that, and when I had one, I made sure he left.”
When Kroos tried to soften the situation and confirm that Ramos is a good person, Klopp doubted that and said that “his opinion doesn’t matter much” in that regard.
“On that day something happened that will not happen again in 100 years, in terms of the goals we conceded,” he concluded, speaking about Loris Karius’ disastrous mistakes in that final.
