Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, remembered the 2022 Champions League final against Real Madrid, during his last press conference as Reds coach.
The Wolverhampton match on Sunday will be Klopp’s last match with Liverpool after 8 years as coach of the English club, during which he achieved many achievements.
Klopp reached the Champions League final three times with Liverpool, and won it once over Tottenham in 2019, but lost twice to Real Madrid in 2018 and 2022.
When Klopp was asked about the 2022 final and his memories, all he remembered was Thibaut Courtois, who shined brightly in that match and was a major reason for Real Madrid winning the fourteenth title.
The German coach said sarcastically, “The cursed Courtois was Real Madrid’s goalkeeper that day. He had 12 hands in this match.”
Courtois had saved 9 shots in the 2022 final against Liverpool, which is the highest number of saves in the history of Champions League finals.
Courtois returns this season after a period of absence due to injury, with the possibility of participating in the Champions League final with Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund.
