Kroos apologizes to Pedri and confirms: I did not mean to hurt you

Real Madrid and Germany star Toni Kroos apologized to Barcelona and Spain star Pedri for the violent intervention that ended the player’s career in Euro 2024 during the match between La Roja and Germany in the quarter-finals.

Kroos’ foot collided with Pedri’s knee in the seventh minute of the match between Germany and Spain in Stuttgart, and because of that, the Barcelona star suffered a sprained knee and will be absent from the field for about a month.

Germany bid farewell to the Euro with a 2-1 defeat after the fatal goal from Mikel Moreno in the final minutes of the second extra time, bringing Kroos’ football career to an end in this unfortunate manner.

Kroos wrote a long message on his Instagram account about what happened in the match and about his career with Germany, and concluded it with a special message to Pedri.

The Real Madrid legend told the promising Barcelona star, “It remains very important for me to apologize to Pedri and I hope he recovers soon.”

He also added, “Obviously I did not mean to hurt you. I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best. You are a truly great player.”

The 34-year-old spoke about Germany and said, “I would like to thank you for the warmth and genuine affection, which has been so special over the past few weeks.”

He continued, “I am very proud of what the German team did, and perhaps all of Germany might be proud as well. Do not abandon the team. The current path must continue. It is useful for you to support the team in difficult times.”

He concluded, “I can assure you one thing: this is a group of great people who are doing everything in their power to succeed! Germany is Germany again.”
