Former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos considered that the hardest moment in his decision to retire was when he told his coach Carlo Ancelotti about the matter, especially since the Italian insisted on it and is said to have cried.
Kroos had decided to retire from football at the end of last season despite the news at the time that he was on the verge of continuing with the Merengue for another year.
In an interview with Marca, Kroos said, “I really love Real Madrid in every sense of the word. I will never forget the day I said goodbye at the Bernabeu, it will remain in my heart forever.”
He also added, “The hardest moment of all was telling Ancelotti and my son that I had decided to retire, it was a really complicated moment.”
He concluded, “I played for Real Madrid for 10 years, and I never thought about leaving at any moment, and the club itself did not doubt my abilities for a single moment, I really love Real Madrid.”
It is worth noting that Kroos was able to achieve 22 titles with Real Madrid over the course of 10 years, including 5 Champions League titles.
