The Spanish League announced the suspension of Barcelona coach Hansi Flick due to the red card he received in the last match against Real Betis.
Flick was sent off after he objected to the controversial penalty awarded by the referee to Real Betis, in the match that ended in a 2-2 draw between the two teams at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.
La Liga decided to punish Flick with a two-match suspension due to the expulsion, which means he will be absent from Barcelona’s bench in the last two matches of 2024 against Leganes and Atletico Madrid.
In the first reaction from Barcelona’s management, the Catalan club’s officials filed an appeal against this punishment in the hope of reducing it to one match so that the coach can be present in the important match against Atletico Madrid.
If the appeal is rejected, Flick will appear again on Barcelona’s bench at the beginning of next year when the Blaugrana meet Barbasto in the King’s Cup.
Barcelona leads the Spanish League by two points over Real Madrid, with one match less for the capital club, which if it wins will take first place.
