Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that his club rejected a legendary offer in the recent period worth 250 million euros to sell Lamine Yamal.
The 17-year-old has become one of the most important football stars around the world since he was promoted to the Barcelona first team a year and a half ago, and he is even one of the candidates for the Golden Ball award.
According to Laporta, a record offer from an unnamed club tried to tempt the Blaugrana to sell Yamal, but Barcelona held on to its player and does not intend to let him go no matter the price.
Laporta said in an interview with Barcelona’s official website, “We received an offer of 250 million euros to sign Lamine Yamal, but we rejected it immediately.”
“We saw that our duty was to keep the team as it is, and we did not want to sell, no matter the proposed price, and I think our decision was correct, as Flick now benefits from Yamal and the rest of the players,” he added.
He concluded, “As Johan Cruyff said before, ‘Whoever plays in this team must always want to be with us.'”
Although Laporta did not reveal the club that wanted Lamine Yamal, there are suggestions that this club is Paris Saint-Germain, after it was previously reported that the French wanted Yamal to replace Kylian Mbappé.
