Laporta: Barcelona’s relationship with Real Madrid is ‘collapsed’

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stressed that his club’s relationship with Real Madrid is at its worst point ever.

The main reason for the dispute between Real and Barcelona is the Royal Club’s involvement as an opponent to Barça in the bribery case of the former vice-president of the referees’ committee, Negreira.

Laporta said in a press conference on Tuesday, “The relationship between us and Real Madrid is very bad because they interfered in the Negreira case and this is completely unacceptable for us.”

He added, “Let them do what they want and we will also do what we see fit.”

When asked about Real’s performances this season, the Catalan president replied, “I am only focused on Barcelona.”

He concluded, “We started the season as we planned and now we are good, we are sure that things will go well, the match against Valladolid was really special for us.”

Real Madrid and Barcelona are planning for the European Super League together, and Laporta commented on this by saying: “We are still working on the tournament until it starts, and because of its presence, UEFA has started to move and distributed an additional 500 million euros to the clubs.”
