Xabi Alonso can lead Leverkusen to a historic treble, as the team will play against Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final, and before that it will play in the Europa League final against Atalanta.
In the same context, Bayern Munich lost the Bundesliga title after losing to Hoffenheim 4-2, while Stuttgart won 4-0 over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Stuttgart ranked second for the first time since 2002, after reaching 73 points, compared to 72 points for Bayern Munich.
Bayern’s season is without titles for the first time since 2011-2012, and it is also the first time that Bayern has ranked third in the Bundesliga since the 2010-2011 season.
