Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed that he understands the anger of Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal after they were substituted in the Young Boys match in the Champions League.
The Catalan club succeeded in achieving a wide 5-0 victory in the second round of the Champions League stage, on a night in which Lewandowski in particular shone and scored two goals.
Signs of anger appeared on Lamine Yamal’s face when he left in the second half and was replaced by Pau Victor in the 75th minute.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Lewandowski was also angry when he left in the same minute and was replaced by Frenkie de Jong, due to his desire to score a “hat-trick”.
Flick responded to that in the press conference after the match and said, “The season is still long and we have many matches ahead of us, Yamal has already played many minutes.”
“I did the same with Lewandowski, I know he wanted to continue, but it’s over, we have to rest the players as much as possible,” he added.
“Barcelona can achieve great things if they stay united,” he concluded, but declined to answer whether his team were major candidates to win the Champions League, saying only that his goal was to improve in every match.
