Matters within Liverpool are moving towards making the renewal of Mohamed Salah’s contract with the Reds an urgent necessity. Due to this, the English club’s management is considering approving a special exception to persuade the Egyptian to stay at Anfield.
Salah’s contract with Liverpool ends at the end of the current season, and he is indeed attracting interest from several Saudi clubs with a reported salary that could reach 100 million euros annually.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool’s long-standing policy of not giving large salaries or long contracts to aging players will change, and Salah will be granted a special exception.
Liverpool’s management wants, at worst, to avoid losing a player of Salah’s caliber for free, considering that the 32-year-old can benefit the club financially and bring millions into Anfield’s coffers instead of leaving for free in the summer of 2025.
Thus, it is expected that negotiations for the renewal of the “Egyptian King” with Liverpool will begin in the coming weeks, provided that Salah continues to deliver the outstanding performances he has shown since the end of last season.
It is worth noting that Salah opened the new season by scoring a goal and assisting another in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
