Lunin: I want to stay with Real Madrid, but!

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andrey Lunin conducted an interview with the newspaper “Marca”, which increased speculation about his future with the Royal Club, in light of the great interest he is receiving from major European clubs.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper’s contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2025, and although Florentino Perez’s management has offered him a renewal, he has not made his final decision in this regard yet.

Lunin was clear in his statements that he wanted to participate and did not prefer to remain on the bench, as he said, “Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but I want to play.”

He continued, “I want to stay at Real Madrid, but my future is now in the hands of the club. Very soon we will all know what the decision is.”

He also added, “I have shortened my vacation and will return to training next Monday. I want to be with the team from day one.”

He concluded, “If I did not want to be here, I would have taken all my leave, but I want to come back now because I am in the best team in the world.”

Lunin’s statements increase the uncertainty. On the one hand, it was clear that he wanted to continue with Real Madrid, but on the other hand, he set the condition of continuous participation, which seems difficult in the presence of Courtois.

It is noteworthy that the English newspapers confirmed the interest of Arsenal in particular in contracting with the 24-year-old in the current summer Mercato.
