French President Emmanuel Macron met with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez on Tuesday, where the duo discussed Kylian Mbappe’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Real Madrid had previously announced that it would not allow any of its players to participate in the Olympics, and since Mbappe will become a player at the Royal Club within the next few days, the same decision will apply to him.
According to the newspaper “L’Equipe”, Macron, in a quick meeting with Perez on Tuesday, tried to persuade him to reverse this decision and allow Mbappé to participate with France in the Olympics.
However, the two sides have not reached an agreement, as Pérez remains committed to his previous decision not to allow any player from his club to participate in the Olympics for fear of fatigue and injuries.
At the same time, the newspaper “AS” revealed that Mbappe fully accepts Real Madrid’s decision and will not try to change it, and it is now certain that the player will not carry his country’s shirt at the Olympics.
It is noteworthy that Mbappe will play Euro 2024 with France during the months of June and July, after which he will join the Real Madrid camp in August in preparation for the start of the new season.
