Manchester City tries to close a new deal in the last hours of the winter transfer window

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester City moved on Monday morning, the last day of the winter transfer window, to close a new deal that is somewhat complicated.

We are talking here about Porto player Nico Gonzalez, who is seen within City as partly filling the void left by Rodri in the midfield.

According to the reliable journalist, City already has an agreement on personal terms with the player, but the current crisis lies with Porto.

Gonzalez’s contract includes a release clause of 60 million euros, and Porto does not intend to let go of its young star for an amount less than that yet.

Porto is looking forward to this specific number because Barcelona owns 40% of the sale value of the 23-year-old, and accordingly, the Portuguese want to make a significant financial profit to compensate them for the technical loss of the player.

City officials contacted their counterparts at the Portuguese club on Monday morning in the hope of reaching an agreement to reduce this value and include Gonzalez, who is very welcoming to join Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The results so far are still unknown, but English officials are hopeful that the price of the 23-year-old will be reduced and that this will be the last and very important winter reinforcement at the Etihad Stadium.

It is worth noting that City included 3 players in the winter Mercato: Omar Marmoush, Abdulkadir Khosanov and Victor Reyes.
