Manchester United’s first deal under coach Ruben Amorim will not be a big deal with a huge financial value, but rather it will be the signing of a young player who looks very promising.
The English media agreed that Amorim asked United to sign a world-class left-back to suit his style of play and be a good offensive and defensive core.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils’ management met Amorim’s request and is on its way to signing young player Diego Leon.
Leon is a 17-year-old left-back who plays for Cerro Porteno in Paraguay. He was only promoted to the first team at the beginning of this season, but he is seen as one of the most important football players in the coming years.
United will pay Leon a fixed price of $4 million, plus another $1 million in achievable variables, and another $3.5 million depending on the player’s numbers and the team’s achievements.
United’s management decided to keep Leon at Cerro Porteño this season, to join Amorim’s squad starting from the pre-season period for next season in July 2025.
