Manchester United defeats Real Madrid and snatches Yoro

Lille defender Lenny Yoro is on the verge of joining Manchester United, with the player set to undergo a medical at Old Trafford in the coming hours.

Yoro had been a long-term target for Real Madrid, who had reportedly agreed personal terms with the player. However, United made a late move for the 18-year-old and were able to agree a deal with Lille.

Yoro, who is a France youth international, had been torn between a move to United or Real Madrid. However, United were able to persuade him to make the move to Old Trafford, and he is now set to become their latest signing.

The Red Devils will pay a fee of €50 million (£42.8 million) plus €12 million (£10.7 million) in add-ons for Yoro. This is significantly more than the €30 million (£25.7 million) that Real Madrid were reportedly willing to offer.

The signing of Yoro is a major coup for United, who are looking to rebuild their defence after a disappointing season. Yoro is a highly-rated young prospect, and he is expected to go straight into United’s first team.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, will now need to look at alternative targets for centre-back. Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger are their only other options, and both players have been linked with moves away from the club.
