According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United’s management has informed their counterparts at Fiorentina that they will not activate the purchase option in Sofyan Amrabat’s loan agreement with the Red Devils.
The Moroccan international joined United in the final days of the last summer transfer window, and his performance fluctuated, but he appeared in a distinctive way at the end of the season in particular.
According to the reliable journalist, not activating the buy-out clause in Amrabat’s contract does not mean that United does not want to sign Amrabat, but rather that it does not want to pay the value in the loan agreement, but a lower value.
Amrabat’s loan fee for one year to United was 8.5 million pounds, while the purchase price is 21.5 million pounds, and United believes that the Moroccan can be signed for a lower value.
United’s desire is for Amrabat to continue, due to the opinion of coach Erik ten Hag, who considers him an important pillar in his squad, but the club is setting certain economic conditions to work on keeping the Moroccan at Old Trafford.
At the same time, Amrabat has other offers from English, Italian and Spanish clubs, but it seems that United is his priority at the present time.
It is worth noting that United is trying to sign a new midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, and it is also said that Adrien Rabiot is on the Red Devils’ map, which makes Amrabat’s chances – if he stays – of playing with the English club very difficult.
