Omar Marmoush considered that the level Manchester City presented against Newcastle was an attempt to show a reaction after the defeat to Real Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League.
The Egyptian star scored his first hat-trick with City and in the Premier League, and led Pep Guardiola’s squad to a 4-0 victory and maintain fourth place in the competition.
Marmoush said after the match, “We wanted from the first moment to show a reaction to what happened in the Real Madrid match.”
He also added, “I am very happy to score the hat-trick, it is a crazy feeling, it is also the first hat-trick in my career.”
He continued, “The important thing is that we achieved victory, I want to thank the players, the coach and all the staff at the club, they made me feel like I have been here for a long time.”
He concluded, “The first goal was the most important for me and you can see that in the way I celebrated, and after the hat-trick I felt that I had finally reached the team after the great effort I made to play among the best teams in the world.”
Marmoush’s chances of participating against Real Madrid in the second leg of the play-off next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu are increasing, especially after the minor injury suffered by Erling Haaland against Newcastle.
